Wire Winder - Tutorial

People ask me how to use the wire winder so here are a few instructions.

Either clamp your winder to your bench or use screws to permanently fasten it to your work surface. Place it at a height that will be comfortable for you to turn the handle. Place it at a height that will be comfortable for you to turn the handle.

Make a half inch 90 degree bend in the end of your wire. Insert it along with your mandrel into the chuck of the wire winder. Spin the barrel towards you until the chuck fits pretty tightly around your mandrel and wire. Use the jacobs key to make finer adjustments. Don't over-tighten. (picture below)

Turn the handle clockwise and slowly form a coil onto your mandrel. With a little practice you can get pretty darn fast at turning the handle. And you will just love the coils that are so much easier than other methods. (picture below)
