Spring Zing Jewelry Contest 2008

See All The Entries: Page 1, Page 2, Page 3, Page 4, Page 5, Page 6, Page 7, Page 8, Page 9, Page 10

Contest Results - with comments by our judge, Jonna Faulkner.

1st Place - Entry 027 - Shaina Houser
In a contest with many wonderful entries, this ring just stood out from the rest. It is utterly original. It is sophisticated in design, execution and use of materials, yet playful at its heart. Even before I read its maker's note, it reminded me of the round-abouts on the asphalt playgrounds of my childhood.

2nd Place - Entry 002 - Lynn Ballinger
Each element of this beautifully crafted bracelet is pleasing to the eye, yet the sum of the whole is greater even than its parts. Its design, with its suggestion of a bodice, reminds me of a piece that might be worn in ancient times. The materials chosen and the way they have been worked exude warmth and desirability.

3rd Place - Entry 035 - Linda Inhelder
This highly textured bracelet incorporates familiar elements (the spiral, twining, crystals) combined in unusual ways. The way the elements flow out of one another is very appealing. Altogether, lovely in its design and execution.

Honorable Mentions:

Entry 004 - Deryn Mentock
Great use of materials and position of elements in this techno-romantic necklace.

Entry 040 - Gwen Youngblood
Beautifully forged chain brings to full completion the design of this necklace.

Entry 047 - Janet Scofidio
Great style and composition in this well-crafted bracelet.
