Hardwood Ring Clamp

This hardwood clamp is a very handy tool for filing. It will grasp the piece you want to file so you don't scrape your fingers and it will be held securely for better control. The jaws are lined with leather to prevent marring. In the sample below, I used the clamp to file the rivet into a square head (it was round). The easiest way to stabilize the clamp is to secure it in a bench pin and anvil. I have also included a photo of my bench pin where I have sawed out a "V". The clamp rests in the "V" area while I file. Is this clear? It is a little like that old song: "the neck bone is connected to the back bone"..... (please sing along). In this case, "the spacer is connected to the penny, the penny is connected to the clamp, the clamp is connected to the bench pin". 6" in length.
