| New Book: Stamped Metal Jewelry |
This brand new book (July, 2010) by Lisa Niven Kelly has 20 projects along with information on doing some basic fabrication techniques (sawing, filing, hole punching, etc.). You will find a chapter with my linked bracelet with bolted beads project on page 120 (please see the Jatayu logo banner above). Instructions for making this bracelet, and needed tools and supplies are included. An instructional DVD comes with your book.
Please note: Amazon sells this book for $16.47 and so are we!
We also have new stamps on the way. If you want to be notified when they are in, please email Christine - christine@jatayu.com. And if you are a metal stamper, we will soon have a new tool that will help you line up your stamps. You know how tricky it is to line them up for an even impression. And, I don't know about you, but I manage to hit my thumb all too often. This interesting little tool minimizes the difficulties you can encounter with stamping. |

| Weekend With The Wire Masters - Oct. 28-31, 2010 |
Greetings!
I will be teaching 4 days in southern California
at a new show titled "Weekend with the Wire Masters".
The show is being held at Laguna Cliffs Resort and Spa at Dana
Point. Dana Point is a lovely community located between San Diego
and Los Angeles. The show is sponsored by Lapidary Journal's Jewelry Artist and Step by Step Wire Jewelry magazines.
The classes I am teaching are:
Bewitching Bracelets
Free Form Cuffs
Balamun Pendants
Registration for people who want to attend
the entire 4 days is open now. If you want to attend a part of
the program, registration will likely start in June. I asked
one of the show organizers about the registration process and
she said they are trying to make the show more like a retreat.
Here is a link for more information.

| A Few of My Favorite Things: |
Silicone Polishing Wheels If you want to rid your metal of those little
dings and divots using a silicone polishing wheel is an easy
effective way to do it. The grit varies from coarse to ultra-fine
(see TPO-0619, TPO-0620, TPO-0621, TPO-0622, TPO-0632).
If the marks are deep, start with a coarse wheel and finish with
a fine or ultra-fine wheel. Besides the polishing wheel and the
attachment mandrel, you will need a flex
shaft or a Dremel to accomplish this. Dont forget
to wear safety
glasses and a particulate
mask.
Color Tool If
you are trying to put great colors together you might try this
handy and informative tool. It is easy to match the focal color
you are working with (a color wheel has many fewer selections)
and on the back of each page you will find color various combinations
that will work beautifully. I like being able to select the recommended
cards to see what it might look like before I dig into my beads.
Many of us have some basic information about color combining
(including me), but when it comes to putting unique colors together,
I need a tool like this. |
